Ingredients

Scale

Salad Ingredients

  • 14 ounces canned tuna, drained
  • 1/2 small red onion, diced small
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, diced

Dressing Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise (light)
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the main ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the drained tuna, diced red onion, diced dill pickles, and diced celery until evenly combined.
  2. Prepare the dressing: In a small bowl, mash the avocado thoroughly. Add the light mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Whisk all the ingredients until you achieve a smooth, creamy dressing. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed, starting with a small amount to avoid over-seasoning.
  3. Mix the salad: Pour the avocado dressing over the tuna mixture and stir gently to coat all the ingredients evenly with the creamy dressing.
  4. Serve or store: Serve the salad immediately for the best flavor and texture, or transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate. It will keep fresh for 3 to 5 days. Discard any leftovers that have been left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours to ensure food safety.

Notes

  • Use light mayonnaise to keep the salad lower in fat and calories.
  • For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños.
  • The salad is excellent served on whole grain bread, lettuce wraps, or crackers.
  • Be mindful to consume or refrigerate the salad promptly to avoid spoilage due to avocado and tuna.
