Banana Cream Trifle

A nostalgic and creamy no-bake dessert layered with vanilla pudding, whipped cream, fresh bananas, and crushed vanilla wafers. This banana cream trifle is light, indulgent, and perfect for gatherings or casual treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 2 (3.4 oz) boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 large bananas, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafer cookies (about 11 oz), crushed
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped topping for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the pudding mix with the cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Chill for 5 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the pudding to lighten it.
  4. In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer crushed vanilla wafers, banana slices, and the pudding mixture.
  5. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  6. Garnish with extra banana slices and crushed wafers just before serving.
  7. Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld before serving.

Notes

  • To prevent banana slices from browning, lightly coat them in lemon juice before layering.
  • Make a day ahead for enhanced flavor and convenience.
  • Swap vanilla wafers for graham crackers or sponge cake if preferred.
