- 3 cups cold milk
- 2 (3.4 oz) boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 large bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafer cookies (about 11 oz), crushed
- Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped topping for serving
- In a large bowl, whisk the pudding mix with the cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Chill for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the pudding to lighten it.
- In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer crushed vanilla wafers, banana slices, and the pudding mixture.
- Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with extra banana slices and crushed wafers just before serving.
- Chill the trifle for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld before serving.
Notes
- To prevent banana slices from browning, lightly coat them in lemon juice before layering.
- Make a day ahead for enhanced flavor and convenience.
- Swap vanilla wafers for graham crackers or sponge cake if preferred.
