Cheesy Kielbasa and Pierogi Bake

A hearty baked casserole of cheesy potato pierogies, smoky kielbasa, and caramelized onions, all smothered in a rich, creamy cheese sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies
  • 12 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté kielbasa slices until browned, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions until softened and slightly caramelized.
  4. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, chicken broth, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
  5. Arrange pierogies in the prepared baking dish. Top with kielbasa and onions, then pour cheese sauce evenly over the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sautéed mushrooms or spinach before baking.
  • You can substitute smoked sausage for kielbasa if preferred.
  • If you like a crispy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the cheese sauce before baking.
