  • 1 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Pasta

  • 12 oz gluten free farfalle pasta

Sauce

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp dry shallots
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp Gluten Free 1:1 Flour
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 12 oz shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup pasta water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Boil the gluten-free farfalle pasta in a large pot according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Mix Chicken Seasonings: In a small bowl, combine paprika, oregano, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper to create a seasoning blend for the chicken.
  3. Pound Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts slightly to even out their thickness for even cooking.
  4. Season Chicken: Season both sides of the chicken breasts evenly with the prepared seasoning mixture.
  5. Heat Oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil until hot.
  6. Sear Chicken: Place chicken in the skillet and sear for 5 minutes on each side until nicely browned.
  7. Simmer Chicken: After searing, reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pan with a lid, and cook the chicken for an additional 10-12 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Rest Chicken: Remove the chicken from the pan and place it on a cutting board to rest.
  9. Melt Butter: Add the butter to the same skillet and allow it to melt over medium heat.
  10. Add Seasonings: Stir in dry shallots, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; simmer for one minute to release flavors.
  11. Add Flour: Sprinkle in the gluten-free flour and stir continuously, scraping the bottom of the pan to combine thoroughly.
  12. Add Liquids: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream gradually, whisking constantly to create a smooth, creamy sauce.
  13. Incorporate Cheese: Add shredded Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  14. Adjust Consistency: Allow the sauce to cook, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired thickness.
  15. Toss Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss well to coat all pasta evenly with the sauce.
  16. Thin Sauce if Needed: Add pasta water one tablespoon at a time to thin out the sauce if it is too thick.
  17. Slice Chicken: Slice the rested chicken breasts into strips or bite-sized pieces.
  18. Combine and Serve: Add the sliced chicken to the pasta, stir gently to combine, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free farfalle pasta to keep this recipe gluten-free.
  • Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption.
  • Add pasta water gradually to adjust the sauce consistency perfectly.
  • You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce but expect a less rich flavor.
  • Resting the chicken before slicing helps retain juices and tenderness.
