Chocolate Chunk Hazelnut Cherry Cookies

Thick and chewy bakery-style cookies packed with dark chocolate chunks, roasted hazelnuts, and tart cherry preserves for a rich, nutty, and fruity flavor explosion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts, halved
  • 1/4 cup cherry preserves or chopped dried cherries
  • Optional: extra hazelnuts and chocolate chunks for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract; beat until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in chocolate chunks, hazelnuts, and cherry preserves.
  6. Scoop large mounds of dough onto the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  7. Press a few extra chocolate chunks and hazelnuts on top for a bakery-style appearance.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For a chewier cookie, do not overbake—centers should look slightly underdone when removed from the oven.
  • Chopped dried cherries can be substituted for preserves if desired.
  • Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes prior to baking for a thicker texture.
