Chocolate-Covered Hazelnut Wafer Fingers

Crispy wafer fingers layered with hazelnut cream, fully coated in rich chocolate and studded with crushed hazelnuts—these elegant confections deliver a satisfying crunch with every decadent bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 wafer fingers (plain, rectangular)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (e.g., Nutella)
  • 7 oz dark or milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped roasted hazelnuts
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for smoother coating)

Instructions

  1. Spread a layer of hazelnut spread between two wafer fingers to create a sandwich. Repeat with remaining wafers and chill for 10 minutes to firm up.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate with coconut oil over a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts. Stir until smooth.
  3. Stir chopped hazelnuts into the melted chocolate.
  4. Dip each chilled wafer sandwich into the chocolate mixture using tongs or a fork, ensuring full coverage.
  5. Place coated fingers on a parchment-lined tray and let set at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
  6. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or chilled for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Ensure wafers are chilled before dipping to prevent melting of the hazelnut spread.
  • If using milk chocolate, the coating will be sweeter, while dark chocolate will provide a more balanced contrast to the hazelnut cream.
  • For an extra crunchy texture, lightly crush the roasted hazelnuts before mixing them into the chocolate.
