Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced or pureed)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or white wine)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss the peeled and deveined shrimp with paprika, salt, and black pepper until well coated.
  2. Sear the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, flipping halfway, until shrimp are opaque and cooked through. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Creamy Sauce: Reduce heat to medium and melt unsalted butter in the same skillet. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in chicken broth or white wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes to slightly reduce the liquid and concentrate flavors.
  4. Add Cream and Cheese: Pour in heavy cream and stir well. Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer the sauce for 3-4 minutes until it thickens beautifully.
  5. Combine & Serve: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly in the creamy sauce. Simmer on low heat for an additional 2 minutes until shrimp are heated through and flavors meld.
  6. Garnish & Enjoy: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the shrimp. Serve immediately alongside pasta, rice, or crusty bread for a satisfying meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute half-and-half for heavy cream to lighten the sauce.
  • Use white wine instead of chicken broth for a richer flavor.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control the heat level or omit if preferred.
  • Peeling and deveining shrimp yourself ensures freshness and better texture.
  • Serve with your favorite carbs like garlic bread, fettuccine, or steamed rice for a complete dish.
