Chocolate Mixture
- 200 g milk chocolate, finely chopped
- 200 g dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 100 g unsalted butter
- 100 g golden syrup
Base
- 6–8 full-size Shredded Wheat biscuits
Toppings
- 100–200 g Easter chocolates (small eggs)
- Crush the Shredded Wheat: Gently crush the full-size Shredded Wheat biscuits into a large bowl, breaking them into smaller pieces but not into powder.
- Melt butter and syrup: Combine the unsalted butter and golden syrup in a pan and heat gently on the stove, stirring occasionally until the butter has completely melted.
- Add chocolates off heat: Remove the pan from the heat and stir in both the finely chopped milk and dark chocolates until fully melted and smooth.
- Combine with shredded wheat: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the crushed Shredded Wheat and mix thoroughly until all the cereal pieces are well coated in chocolate.
- Form nests: Use spoons or a cookie/ice cream scoop to portion mixture onto a lined baking tray, shaping each scoop into a nest form.
- Top with Easter eggs: Place 3 small Easter egg chocolates on top of each nest to decorate and add festive charm.
- Chill until set: Place the tray in the fridge and allow the nests to set for at least 30 minutes until firm.
- Serve and enjoy: Once solid, enjoy your homemade Easter Nests as a delightful holiday treat!
Notes
- Be gentle when crushing Shredded Wheat to keep some texture in the nests.
- Use a combination of milk and dark chocolate for a balanced flavor, but you can adjust ratios to your taste.
- The golden syrup helps bind the mixture and adds a subtle sweetness.
- Store the nests in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them firm.
- These treats can be made a day ahead and kept chilled until serving.
