Delicious and easy-to-make brownie truffles combining rich homemade brownies with creamy cream cheese and a smooth chocolate coating, perfect for parties or treat sharing. These bite-sized treats are topped with colorful sprinkles for a festive touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 (18 ounce) box of brownie mix
  • Ingredients required as per brownie mix box (usually eggs, oil, and water)

Truffle Mixture

  • 8 ounces full-fat, brick-style cream cheese (room temperature)

Chocolate Coating

  • 3 cups chocolate melting wafers
  • Sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  1. Prepare Brownies: Prepare the brownies in a 9×13 inch pan according to the package directions. Allow the brownies to cool completely so they are firm enough for mixing.
  2. Remove Brownie Center: Scoop out the soft baked brownie centers into a large bowl, leaving the firmer edges behind. This ensures a smooth truffle texture.
  3. Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the room temperature cream cheese to the scooped brownies and beat with a hand or stand mixer until fully combined and no lumps remain for a creamy, smooth mixture.
  4. Roll into Balls: Using about 1 tablespoon sized portions, roll the mixture into balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for 30 minutes or until solid to help them hold shape during coating.
  5. Melt Chocolate: Melt the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second increments, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
  6. Coat Truffles: Use a fork to dip the frozen truffles into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Gently tap the fork to remove excess chocolate, then place the truffles back on the baking sheet. Immediately add sprinkles for decoration.
  7. Set the Coating: Refrigerate the coated truffles for 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to fully harden before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature to avoid lumps in the mixture.
  • Freezing the truffles solid before dipping helps them hold their shape and reduces melting of the chocolate coating.
  • Use good quality chocolate melting wafers for a smooth, glossy finish.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Customize the sprinkles or coating with colored sugars or crushed nuts for variety.
