Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form into small oval or round meatballs, about 1.5 inches in size.
  4. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium heat, combine BBQ sauce, honey, soy sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Optional: Mix cornstarch with a splash of water, then stir into the sauce to thicken.
  7. Add cooked meatballs to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the glaze. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve meatballs hot over cooked white rice and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Use homemade or low-sugar BBQ sauce for more control over sweetness.
  • Serve with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
