- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup dark chocolate chunks or chopped dark chocolate bar
- Optional: flaky sea salt for topping
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks, reserving a few to press on top of each cookie before baking.
- Scoop large balls of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are still soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while warm if desired. Serve gooey and warm!
