Ingredients

Scale

For the Salmon:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Honey Garlic Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Honey Garlic Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, Dijon mustard (if using), rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set the glaze aside to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the Salmon: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Place the salmon fillets in the skillet skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, allowing the skin to crisp and the salmon to cook about halfway through. Carefully flip the fillets and pour the honey garlic glaze over the top. Continue cooking for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, basting the salmon with the glaze to infuse flavor and cook through until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  4. Serve: Remove the salmon from the skillet and transfer to a serving plate. Drizzle any remaining glaze from the pan over the fillets and garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes to the glaze.
  • You can substitute rice vinegar with apple cider vinegar for a slightly different tang.
  • Ensure the skillet is well-heated before adding salmon to get a nice sear.
  • Use fresh salmon for the best flavor and texture.
  • If your fillets have skin, cooking skin-side down first helps create a crispy texture.
