- 8 oz halloumi cheese, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons honey (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (plus extra sprigs for garnish)
- Optional: pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
- Pat the halloumi slices dry with a paper towel.
- Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Add halloumi slices and sear for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy.
- Once all slices are browned, reduce heat to low and drizzle honey over the cheese.
- Sprinkle with thyme and optional red pepper flakes, warming briefly to allow the honey to melt slightly.
- Transfer to a serving plate, spooning extra honey from the pan over top.
- Garnish with thyme sprigs and serve immediately.
Notes
- Serve with crusty bread, figs, or grapes for a complete appetizer.
- Use good quality honey for best flavor.
- Halloumi does not melt, making it ideal for searing.
- Try adding a splash of lemon juice for brightness.
