Delicious homemade Turtle Bark featuring rich melted chocolate almond bark swirled with creamy caramel and topped with crunchy whole and chopped pecans. This easy no-bake treat takes just 10 minutes of prep and sets into a perfect sweet and nutty snack or gift.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Almond Bark

  • 1 package (20-24 oz) chocolate almond bark

Caramel

  • 25 caramel squares (about 1 1/4 cups caramel bits)
  • 12 Tbsp water or heavy cream

Nuts

  • Whole pecans (as many as desired, some chopped)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Surface: Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat, parchment paper, or wax paper to prevent the bark from sticking.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Roughly chop the almond bark into smaller pieces and place in a glass bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 3 minutes, then stir. Continue microwaving for 1-2 more minutes at 50% power, stirring in between. If needed, add additional 30-second increments until fully melted. Stir well to keep smooth.
  3. Melt Caramel: Place caramel squares in a microwave-safe bowl and add 1-2 tablespoons water or heavy cream. Microwave for 1 minute at 50% power and stir. Continue microwaving at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until caramel is fully melted and smooth.
  4. Reserve Chocolate for Drizzle: Set aside about 1/4 cup of melted chocolate to use for drizzling later.
  5. Assemble Turtle Bark: Pour melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly with a spatula. Drop spoonfuls of the melted caramel evenly over the chocolate. Use a butter knife or spatula to swirl the caramel into the chocolate to create a marbled effect.
  6. Add Pecans and Drizzle: Sprinkle chopped and whole pecans generously over the swirled chocolate and caramel. Drizzle the reserved melted chocolate over the top for an attractive finish.
  7. Set and Serve: Allow the bark to harden at room temperature for 2-3 hours until completely set. Once solid, cut into pieces using a sharp knife. Store in an airtight container for freshness.

Notes

  • Use 50% microwave power to gently melt chocolate and caramel preventing burning.
  • You can substitute water with heavy cream to achieve a creamier caramel texture.
  • For quicker setting, you may refrigerate the bark after assembling, though room temperature setting is recommended for best texture.
  • Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
  • Chopping some pecans adds texture variation alongside whole pecan halves.
