This Slow Cooker BBQ Brisket recipe offers a tender, flavorful beef brisket cooked low and slow, infused with a smoky, sweet spice rub and finished with tangy barbecue sauce. Perfect for an effortless, impressive meal with minimal hands-on time.

Ingredients

Scale

Brisket and Marinade

  • 46 pound brisket
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce

Dry Rub

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

BBQ Sauce and Garnish

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (divided)
  • Parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the brisket: Position the brisket flat at the bottom of your slow cooker to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prepare the marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and low-sodium soy sauce until well combined, then pour it evenly over the brisket in the slow cooker.
  3. Apply the dry rub and initial sauce: Sprinkle brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic salt, and black pepper evenly over the brisket. Then spread half a cup of BBQ sauce on top of the seasoned meat.
  4. Slow cook the brisket: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours, or until the brisket is tender and cooked through, with flavors deeply absorbed.
  5. Optional broiling for crust: Carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and place it on a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush the top with the remaining BBQ sauce and broil in the oven until a caramelized, brown crust forms for extra flavor and texture.
  6. Rest and serve: Let the brisket rest covered with foil for 15-20 minutes after cooking to retain juices. Slice against the grain and serve, topped with either the reserved slow cooker juices or additional BBQ sauce. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, choose a brisket with some marbling for tenderness and richness.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on your slow cooker model and brisket size; adjust accordingly.
  • The optional broiling step adds a delicious crust but can be skipped for a softer finish.
  • Leftover brisket makes excellent sandwiches or tacos with some fresh toppings.
  • If you prefer a spicier BBQ, add chili powder or cayenne pepper to the dry rub.
